Settle is built around the idea that you can leave a Mac listening for your dog without giving up your privacy — yours, your household's, or anyone passing through the room. This page is the plain version of how that works.

What we collect

• Your email — when you sign up. Used to authenticate you and recover your account.
• Your dog's profile — name, an optional photo you upload, and the "how do they cope" answer from onboarding.
• Session summaries — for each listening session: start/end time, total length, how many seconds had any bark detected, how many distinct barking spells, longest quiet stretch, and a per-minute and per-second timeline of whether that second contained any bark sound. No audio.
• Anonymous diagnostics — if the app crashes, a stack trace and the macOS version go to Sentry so we can fix it. Email and dog info are scrubbed before sending.

What we never collect

• Audio bytes — not stored, not transmitted, not retained anywhere.
• What the audio sounds like beyond the dog/not-dog classification.
• Your location.
• Other apps on your Mac, what you type, or what you browse.
• Anyone else's voice or conversation in the room.

Where your data lives

Everything except the diagnostics above is stored in Supabase, hosted in the EU (Frankfurt region). Database rows are protected by row-level security — only the account that created a row can read it. The publishable API key embedded in the app cannot read other users' data; the only way to bulk-export anyone's history is via an admin key that lives on a single laptop.

How to delete your data

Two paths, both work today:

• In the app: Settings → Account → Sign out, then email feedback@settle.dog from the address you signed up with and we'll wipe the account inside 7 days.
• Specific sessions can be deleted in-app — Summary → Discard this session, or right-click a row in Progress and pick Delete. Cloud deletion is immediate.

Cookies and analytics

This site uses no cookies. We run our own analytics — page views, referrers, and waitlist signups go to our own database, with no third-party analytics services, no ads, and no fingerprinting — and only if you say yes to the banner on your first visit. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (that's the only thing we store on your device), and visits are correlated with a random id that is discarded when you close the tab. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we skip the banner and don't track you at all.

The waitlist

If you join the waitlist we store your email, which platform you asked for, and the page that referred you. It's used for exactly one thing: telling you when Settle is ready for your platform. No newsletters, no sharing. Email feedback@settle.dog to be removed.

Children

Settle isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that meaningfully affects what we collect, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and ping you by email if you have an account.
